LASEK

 

The LASEK method (LASER EPITHELIAL KERATOMILEUSIS) is the further development of the earlier used PRK method and is optimal for vision impairments which do not qualify for the LASIK procedure.


  FACTS  
  Anaesthetic The affected eye is anaesthetized with local anaesthetic drops.
  Operation duration Approx. 15 minutes including preparation, banding, etc.
  Laser use Approx. 10 - 15 seconds
  Recovery Phase:  
  - Day one Approx. 40% of sight, significantly better in the first week
  - Day two and three Possible pain (diminished by medication)
Strong light sensitivity (sunglasses advised)
  - After 4 - 8 weeks Stable sight generally restored
