The Operation » View animation

In preparation for the operation: the eye is numbed with local anaesthetic drops, a sterile bande is applied and a speculum is mounted to hold the eye open. Light pressure will be felt during fixation.

Fixation and incision

The surgeon places a microkeratome to your eye. This instrument is fitted with a suction cap and prepares a 0.15 mm corneal cross-section with a small hinge to create a flap. This corneal flap will later act as a bande over the operated area. You will feel pressure and see black for approximately 30 seconds.

Opening and Laser Treatment

Once the flap is opened the inner corneal area is exposed. It is not pain sensitive. The laser removes parts of the tissue according to refractive values. This step takes between 15 seconds to one minute. During this your vision will be blurred and you will feel no pain.

Nature's own bande

After treatment the flap is replaced. The cornea begins to significantly stabilize within two to three minutes, the mikrokeratom is removed and the procedure is complete.
